Korean Re has a strong belief in corporate contribution to the development of communities and society. In particular, as the leading reinsurer in Korea and Asia that provides risk management solutions and protections against both natural and man-made perils, we believe our corporate success is deeply associated with the resilience of the communities we serve against such perils.

There are three pillars of our social commitments.
First, we work to enhance the level of social inclusiveness as it constitutes a fundamental aspect of our community health. We target to support vulnerable groups in society who find themselves marginalized, such as low-income families and the urban poor especially young people and the elderly. We provide food aid to the target groups on a regular basis and hand out basic school supplies to children from low-income households. Another important focus in this area is the house-building project aimed to address housing poverty and homelessness.

Second, we support the development of the rural economy to ensure balanced social progress between urban and farming communities. Our main project to this end is to maintain rice supply contracts with agricultural households to help them stabilize their business and income. The supplied rice is used for our food assistance programs for socially marginalized groups of people.

Third, community development based on art and culture is an important goal of our social contribution. As we value the importance of art and culture as an integral element of social development, we work to improve access to art and musical performance for the culturally challenged people.
